Katie sent me the cutest picture of Emma and Ellie today so I quickly grabbed it and did a layout about Sisters. After that I did this layout of Aiden. The cute digital kits are called Cutie Patootie and Emma, by Teresabelle. I think they turned out so cute. I love the polka dots. The other two layouts I did the other day.

Snow Day

Wow! I have done two digital pages today. One posted below and this one of me in the snow. We had a big snow that was unusual for us. Very deep and very cold along with very early for our parts of North Carolina. It was fun though and Lindsay shot this picture of me throwing a snowball.

Craftlite Craft Cutter

I am not sure if I will like this craft cutter. My Fiskars is an older model and I have been having a hard time getting blades. I thought about trying a larger cutter so hearing a lot about this one, I decided to order one. It has several decorative cutting blades besides the straight edge, and a light that lights up what you are doing. I will see if it is as useful as the infomercial makes it out to be.

Judges and Babies

I woke up a little early this morning and decided to do a scrapbook page before I got started on my housework. This picture of Briggs and I with the little grandbabies at Judges BBQ in Morganton. We went there with Katie and Michael, Aimee and Michaela, Adam and Trish and the little ones. It was taken this summer while Katie was visiting with her family. Judges is right on the Catawba River and has a beautiful yard surrounding their building. We had a fun dinner together that day.

I have come across a super helpful scrapbooking site called Sketch Inspirations. You can join up for free and every week they post a new sketch layout that you can use for inspiration when doing your pages. I have found this very helpful as I tend to do the same old layouts with just a little variation. They have a weekly contest too so you might just win a prize if they chose your idea of their weekly sketch. Look them up and give it a try. The web address is:

Getting My Christmas Scrapbook Done!

I have been working somewhat, on getting my Christmas pages done early this year. I have been doing one page a day and trying to include everyone in the family in my pages so I can have a scrapbook with everyone's Christmas fun recorded for Christmas 2009. These two pages are Adam's twins, Aiden and Andrew and Katie's two little girls, Emma and Ellie. I have been using the digital kit form DigiChick called Holly Jolly.

I have not used this yet, but I bought one off of ebay a few weeks ago. It was only about 35.00. I thought it would be a good way to bind my scrapbook pages and make albums. I have not tried it, but hope to soon. Maybe when I finish my Christmas pages.

Keep Those Pages Coming, Carol

I have made a resolution to keep up my scrapping and putting it up on my blog and Facebook. I am starting with Christmas Eve and on to Christmas Day . So here is a few more as I get them finished. Our stocking hanger fell as Santa was filling the stockings so he had to put them on a nearby shelf. We have a lot of grandkids so we have a lot of stockings. I love this digital kit by DigiChick that I downloaded before Christmas. It is called Holly Jolly. The Santa came from some Christmas embellishments that remind me of the 50's or 60's called Holly Day. I really like the font I used as though it was written there by me. It is called "Stacyj hand" which I got off of Stacy Jullian's website. She is a fantastic person, member of my church and avid scrapbooker that appears on many programs about scrapbooking. Two New Pages

Here are two new pages I did in the last day or so. The one is my mommy pumping gas at the gas station my dad had for a while before I was born. It is a Shell station and was in St. Joseph, Michigan. The other layout is my Grandma Meader the day before she died in Detroit, Michigan. She was visiting my Aunt Alice and it was 1956. I was eleven years old. I noticed the old album in this picture, only a few months ago. Aunt Alice gave me the album quite a few years ago.

Rediscovering the Meaning of Scrapbooking

This may sound weird, as I'm a digital scrapbooking supplies designer and scrapbooking is my life, but I just rediscovered the meaning of doing it.

My older daughter, who turns three this year, was looking at some pictures and layouts from when she was little. She could recognize herself in the pictures and was having so much fun looking through all of them! I thought that she was too young to enjoy what I do, but children grow up fast and parents are usually “behind” them.

This little episode made me think. I really want my children to know not only what they looked like when they were little, but also what they did, what they said, what they liked to do, to eat, and to play with. I also want them to know what we, parents, were thinking about them and that's why I'm so thankful that I found digital scrapbooking. Doing things digitally is especially great in my situation – it saves me money, time, and mess. I just can't imagine scrapbooking somewhere in the kitchen until all hours and then having to clean up after I finish. Just one paperclip left behind could cause trouble. All I do now is turn off my computer. I have enough other things to clean after the children go to bed.

So, today, I sat at my computer with the feeling of an important mission ahead of me. I still have so many memories to scrap, hundreds of pictures that need to be linked with words. I will do it eventually and I am not getting frustrated with the prospect of all the work. Some of the pictures can be put into photo albums; I do not have to scrap them all. Some of them tell stories, some don't. My favorite photos are those shot on ordinary days. Those that show things that seem to be unimportant at the time. Everyday things like the little quirks of people we know. I enjoy reading my scrapbook pages most when they show me things that I have already forgotten!

So, enjoy the layout about my younger daughter and her obsession with a washing machine!

Grandma Jennie's Recipe

I got the idea around Thanksgiving to make a batch of fruitcake for the holidays. I thought it would be very nice to have Lindsay help me and build some memories for her. My Grandma Jennie had a good recipe for fruitcake that she made and then my mom made when I was young. We gathered all the ingredients and spent the morning baking fruitcake. Ellie is a fun little girl. She has personality plus. She is smart and also a very good little girl. She is easy to care for and has been lots of fun. She is talking now and suprises us with words she says or little phrases. Only being 18 months, I am impressed. I will miss her a lot. In this layout, she is watching her favorite movie Shrek. She knows all three from start to finish. The funny thing is she can sit there and watch the whole thing with complete concentration. I will miss you little girl!

I have grandaughter that is a twin. She is 17 years old. She is a girly girl, but also on the weight lifting team and in ROTC. I have watched her grow up from a tiny little twin baby to a beautiful young woman. Her grandfather and I are proud of her. This picture is kind of different. She had her hair all braided and posed outside in the hammock. I wanted to use a grunge look for the layout. It might need something else that I can add later. I got this free kit off the internet.
